In the beginning
Reverend Marion Brazell welcomed interested residents to a storefront on Highway 544 on August 16, 1984. Our church became a formal organization as a congregation on February 16, 1985. Over the next four years, 106 people signed our charter as members of Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, under the synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Association.
Our new home
January 15, 1989, we broke ground on our current site. The 7,000-square-foot building was erected, and our first service was held on June 4, 1989. As we grew, we added part time positions of an organist/music director and an office secretary.
In 2005 we dedicated our new 5,000 square foot fellowship building. The same year people of the church renovated our space in the main building, adding Sunday school classrooms, a Sacristy, a music room, and a conference room.
In 2009-2010, our congregation became part of Lutheran Congregations in Mission to Christ (LCMC), a free association of Lutheran churches.
In 2020 we constructed an equipment room in the Narthex for live streaming. We updated our conference room, installed ceiling fans in our Sanctuary, and installed a second emergency door in the Sanctuary with concrete pads at both exits. We installed a pantry and coffee bar in the Fellowship Hall. More handicapped parking spaces were placed in our parking lot along with new plants and shrubs. We installed curbing and river rock around both buildings. We took down an old shed on our campus and turned it into a picnic area. Installed a patio awning. We cleaned out 230 ft. of drainage by hand for water runoff from the parking lot.
A place for fellowship
In 2019 members volunteered to paint the interior of the Fellowship Hall.
In 2022 we installed new carpeting in the Sanctuary and Narthex along with a fresh coat of paint in those areas. In 2024 volunteers hand cleaned the drainage ditch and we renovated our office space.
In 2023 we built a stage in the Fellowship Hall and began our Drama Ministry.
In 2024 we renovated our office space.
Over the course:
Since Pastor Marion's retirement in 2013, Pastor Rick Weidman, and Rev. Dr. Henry Corcoran, better known as Pastor Hank, have led our congregation. On occasion we are led by Pastor Randy Newbauer and Pastor Samuel Magubu when our lead Pastor is away. Today, our lead is Pastor Rev. Rob Taylor, leads a congregation of about 200 Baptized members.
